Innovation Data Processing Announces
FDR/UPSTREAM/SOS Major Product Release
Little Falls, NJ, December 3, 2002 - Innovation Data Processing, a market
leader in storage management products, recently announced a major product
release, FDR/UPSTREAM/SOS 3.2.0 with new bi-directional operations.
UPSTREAM/SOS is the only storage management product on the market that
provides open systems backups/restores and file transfers operations
through the EMC Symmetrix DASD arrays across the FICON and ESCON channels
to z/OS or OS/390 mainframe managed DASD or tape.
The FDR/UPSTREAM/SOS Product Suite provides file level support for LAN/SAN
servers that are SCSI or FIBRE attached to an EMC Symmetrix DASD array
with Enterprise Storage Platform (ESP) enabled. UPSTREAM/SOS is the
companion product to FDRSOS, a physical volume solution, which provides
extremely high performance and reliability, along with support for TimeFinder
BCV volumes.
UPSTREAM/SOS also uses the channel connection to provide maximum reliability
and throughput with reduced network overhead. It uses the unique UPSTREAM
TRANSFER VOLUME to perform bi-directional operations for backups/restores
and file transfers across the channel. The results of this "in
storage" data transfer is that data traffic does not go across
the network, therefore its performance is not limited by the network.
By leveraging this connection, ultra high-speed backup and restore operations
with virtually no impact on the LAN/SAN are achieved. Additional benefits
that are provided by UPSTREAM/SOS processing are extremely low CPU and
resource utilization.
This release contributes further to UPSTREAM/SOS being the tool of choice
for shops that have open systems data resident on EMC Symmetrix DASD
arrays. The FDR/UPSTREAM suite provides a centralized solution that
exploits the existing OS/390 or z/OS tape management, Security and Scheduling
systems, to allow multiple simultaneous backup and restore operations.
One more UPSTREAM/SOS asset is its flexibility and the variety of user
interfaces offered. A distributed storage administrator can perform
operations from a graphical management and administrative interface
or the mainframe backup server administrator can work with familiar
TSO ISPF panels. Additionally support for pre- and post-processing capabilities
empower the unified storage administrator team with seamless operations
and coordination between the mainframe backup server and the open systems
client.
To add to an already extensive feature set, UPSTREAM/SOS comes bundled
with a robust suite of non-disruptive database agents for DB2, Oracle,
SQL Server, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes Domino, and Novell GroupWise to
provide a state of the art solution.
With a worldwide customer base and 30 years experience in backup, restore,
hierarchical storage management and disaster recovery, Innovation is
internationally recognized for non-disruptive backups and its inventiveness
in this market segment. Further information about Innovation, its products
